Brighton Terraced Garden

The garden has been transformed into a low-maintenance, beautiful space with different zones for relaxing, entertaining, and appreciating every moment outdoors. The design captures light at various times of day, and each element  from planting to hard landscaping, works together to make the garden feel harmonious, accessible, and beautifully composed. It is now a space to be truly enjoyed at any time.

This terrace back garden is designed to be both functional and inviting. Terraced landings and steps create movement and new perspectives, while a pergola and decorative screen wall provide privacy and architectural interest.

Flowery tiles unify the terrace and steps, with a red rendered wall planter and bench at the base offering a charming spot to pause. Layered planting adds texture, balance, and seasonal interest, with Astrantia major ‘Burgundy Manor’ and Rosa ‘Wollerton Old Hall’ bringing rich colour, delicate floral scents, and gentle movement alongside grasses, butterflies, and bees. A hot bath is seamlessly integrated, providing a relaxing retreat and enhancing the sense of enjoyment throughout the space.

“I cannot tell you how much pleasure our beautiful garden that Monika has designed and planted has given us.

For many years the garden was a neglected and underused space and after the children left home and I received an inheritance from my late parents, we decided to use it to properly reshape the garden for the next chapter of our lives.
